About

The Jr. Economic Club of Canada

The Jr. Economic Club of Canada (JrECC) was created to inspire Canadian youth to become financially literate. We believe that young people across our nation need to understand the basics of finance and personal money management. The global financial crisis has impacted financial intuitions, businesses and families all over the world. It is more important than ever, that we educate our next generation of leaders to become financially literate. Our program is about empowering young people to be the best they can be. We know that understanding the basics of personal money management is a crucial component to a prosperous and healthily life.

The Day on Bay Program

Each year high school students from across Ontario join us for “A Day on Bay”. This high profile field trip gives students a first-hand experience of Toronto’s Financial District while simultaneously teaching them the fundamentals of finance. Students learn about making smart financial decisions, budgeting, compound interest, investing, trading, financial services and portfolio management. Our high energy and interactive day is guaranteed to teach students practical money skills and create memories that will last a life time. All students that participate in our program are eligible to compete in our Jr. Economic Club Financial Literacy Challenge. Winners will receive scholarships, round trips on Porter Airlines and national recognition as The Jr. Economic Club of Canada‘s student of the year.
